Facebook Copyright Infringement: How to File a Report That Works (2026)

Your video re-uploaded without credit. Your product photos on a scam page. Facebook copyright infringement is rampant — but the takedown tools work if you use them right.

How to File a Copyright Report

  1. Go to Facebook’s copyright report form (search “Facebook report copyright infringement”).
  2. Identify yourself as the rights owner.
  3. Paste the URLs of the infringing posts/pages.
  4. Describe your original work and provide proof of ownership.
  5. Submit under penalty of perjury (this is a legal DMCA notice).

What Evidence You Need

  • Links to YOUR original publication (dated before theirs)
  • Original files with metadata
  • Proof you’re the creator or rights holder

False Copyright Strikes Against You?

Competitors sometimes file bogus strikes. You can file a counter-notification — and if the claim was false, the content gets restored. See our copyright support service.
